St. Michael the Archangel Parish is an association of people who come together to respond to God's call to enter a love relationship with the creator. We, as a parish community of faith, are called by God to accept the responsibility of being a sign of His presence in this world by striving to be people of prayer and of loving service to all.

Reverend Paul J. Goudreau
PASTOR

Reverend Seamus Collins, Associate
Reverend Tomy John, Associate
Rev. Mr. Robert Simpson, Deacon

Every Pastor will acknowledge the fact that no parish could possibly survive for very long without the many good people who devote their time and talent to the community. We have many and we are grateful.

Ordinary Time During Summer

During Ordinary Time during summer, the Sunday liturgies of the Church focus on the public life and ministry of Jesus. Notice that in these months the readings for Sundays are centered on the parables, teachings, miracles, and sayings of Jesus. During this year’s Gospel of Luke, the readings chronicle his journey to Jerusalem and the cross, which was the culmination of his mission here on earth.
Although many think of summer as the time for taking off, the liturgies of the Church call us to fasten our belts around our waist and take care that our lamps are lit, waiting for the master (see Luke 12, the Nineteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time, August 12th). It is the time to give attention to how we live as followers of the crucified one. It is time for us to focus on our lives as Christian lives.
In the liturgies of Ordinary Time during these months, we get a taste of Summer School for Disciples. Of course, the greatest action we do as disciples is to gather in the name of the Lord and to break the bread; that is, to participate in the Eucharist. For here the life of the disciple is given clear meaning and direction: to proclaim the death of the Lord until he comes in glory. Each and every Sunday we do this with faith and in joy, trusting that the Lord is with us until the end of time.

The Word from Fr. Paul

Father Emil left us for Poland on Friday. I think he had mixed emotions. On the one hand, he was happy to go home but on the other hand, he knew that he would miss all the people he has served. Nothing in this life is simple. With this Sunday, I begin my last year at St. Michael’s. If it goes by as fast as this last one, it will be here before I know it. If God wills it, I hope to find a house up around here, not too close to the church but close enough to help if I am needed.
The material for covering the seats in the Chapel should be arriving in the first part of this month. I’ll be happy to get this done. It will make a big difference for the acoustics in the chapel. As it is now, we do not need the microphone there. Our voice is loud enough without it. The padded seats will absorb some of the sound.
Many of the activities of the regular year tend to slow down during the summer. Make sure you let Mary Ellen know what is going on. She’s in charge of the calendar and she does her best to avoid conflicts. People should be aware of the fact that the parish has to pay to have someone come in and unlock the building and later to set the alarm and lock up. These are realities that many take for granted. Please be considerate.
God Bless You,
          Fr. Paul Goudreau

Fasting Rules & Regulations
While performing blood pressure checks after Mass our Parish Nurses have noticed that some communicants are delaying taking their medications as part of the fast before communion. This is not a healthy situation. The Church’s rules exempt all scheduled medications from the fast, and if a little food is required to be taken with certain medications, it should be done also.

Repect Life
A human embryo is a human being at a particular, very early, stage of development. An embryo, even prior to implantation, is a whole, distinct, living member of the species Homo sapiens. The embryonic human being requires only what any human being at any stage of development requires for his or her survival, namely, adequate nutrition and an environment sufficiently hospitable to sustain life.
