 Welcome
Hi! I warmly welcome you to the Youth Ministry section of the parish website. Our program is based on parish and community service because, as we are told at the end of Mass... "go out to love and serve the Lord!" Loving the Lord never seems to be a problem, but serving, well... sometimes we all need direction.
Often teens feel separate from the rest of the parish. Sometimes they even begin to doubt the importance of God and their faith. I know I did but I have to tell you, something was always "off" in my life until I realized how important my faith was. I also know that you don't want to come and listen to a bunch of preaching. Quite frankly, I don't want to preach. So I try to make lessons, when we have them, interesting, fun and interactive. I have asked the various ministries that make up our Parish to come and talk to us about their mission and the work they do. You would be surprised to find out how awesome these people - those old guys - are and the importance of their work within the parish. I also like to bring in speakers to discuss things that are of great importance to growing up in today's world because let's face it... it IS a very different world from the one your parents grew up in and your issues are very important. We've had Ala-Teen, NAMI (mental health issues) as well as speakers on gangs, internet safety and making the right choices.
So please come and give us a try. This is YOUR youth group and you can have a say in what we do. We meet on Thursday nights at 7:00 p.m. in the parish center. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 819-5134 or email me. Hope to see you soon!
