Homebound, Hospital & Nursing Home Ministries
Responsibilities:
Brings Holy Communion and a parish bulletin to those who are confined to their home, are patients at Bayonet Point Hospital, and/or residents at a nursing home or assisted living facility. Prays and/or reads scripture with the parishioner. Visits on a weekly or other periodic basis.
Qualifications:
Any registered and active parishioner who is fully initiated into the Catholic Church (received the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation). If married, the marriage must be recognized by the Catholic Church. Volunteers for these ministries must be fingerprinted, successfully pass a Level II Background Screening, complete the Diocesan Safe Environment online class and any requirements of the hospital or nursing homes.
Volunteers are not obligated to work in all three of the above outreach ministries. They are welcome to simply choose one if that is their preference.
